Harry Mark

Growing up in Noosa Heads, naturally, Harry Mark’s relationship with the ocean and photography began early. Moving to Indonesia solo at the age of 18, Harry began working for Deus Ex Machina. He was able to foster his passion for motorcycles and combine both surf and motorcycles in a love child seen through his photography.
We asked Harry a few questions:

What is photography to you?

For me photography is a way showcase life as seen through my own eye.

How long have you been shooting and what lead you to it?

I’ve been shooting for 5 years now and it came about through wanting to interweave art and my favourite pass times. Photography was the perfect way to do so.

Have you changed your approach since you started?

Definitely, have watched myself progress through different styles and shooting styles from shooting purely for art's sake or shooting to give a client what they desire.

First camera & current weapon of choice?

The first camera was a Canon 550D, currently on the 1DXii. Don’t see myself leaving Canon anytime soon.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find inspiration outside of photography, through art, music

What response do you want from your work?

I want my work to be enjoyed by anyone, regardless if you are surrounded by the ocean or whatever else the image says. And to hopefully feel something.

What was your craziest moment while shooting?

Too many close calls shooting heavy Indonesian slabs. Pinned against the reef, running out of breath.

What are you most looking forward to shooting next?

Shooting more work for myself, for the creative challenge

What type of photography do you want to do more of?

Abstract fine art
